Activities
to teach students plant and flower
parts and the variables that effect
plant growth. |

 |
 |
| Activity 1 |
| An
animated matching activity teaches
students the parts of a flower
through auditory and drag and
drop matching. It also illustrates
the pollination process. |

| Activity 2 |
| A
data base entitled "What
Part of the Plant are we Eating
Anyway?" lets you and
your class find pictures of foods
eaten from plants on the Internet,
copy and paste them into the data
base and identify and categorize
each food as a root, stem, flower,
fruit, seed, pod or tuber.
It also allows for searches and
sorts and surveys to find the
students' favorite and yuckiest
foods from plants. |

| Activity 3 |
|
In this activity students plant
seeds and control for a plant
growth variable - in this case
the amount of water given to each
plant. A prebuilt spreadsheet
template allows you and your students
to chart your plant growth.
Students can use the Plant Growth
Prediction Sheet to predict which
amount of water they think will
produce the greatest growth. |
