Introduction

Canada is really big.  Because of being so large (and having such diverse territory) different areas of the country have developed different systems to meet their basic needs.

Activity 1
Canada is really big.  But how big?  Discover what is meant by a vast country by comparing how long it takes to drive across a city, a province and all of Canada.

People meet their basic needs in different ways depending on their environment.  Use this activity to explore how 3 Canadian communities meet their basic needs.

This activity is the same as Activity 2, but with a twist: some red herrings.  Discuss how some things are not found in the 3 Canadian communities and why not.
