Introduction

Students will complete a “How I Spend My Time” spreadsheet and graph the results.  They will use these results to write and reflect on their current use of time and to develop a set of time management goals.

Activity 1
Students identify all of their activities for each day of the school week (sleeping, sports, homework, TV, etc.) and track the amount of time they spend in each.   They enter their time use data into and Excel spreadsheet and then use Excel to visually chart the percentage of time they spend in their different activities for the week.  They use their “Time Use Pie Chart” to write a response in Word regarding the pros and cons of how they manage their time.  They can do “what ifs” by manipulating their spreadsheet time data to look at how the chart changes when they change the amount of time they spend in different activities.  They can then set goals aimed at increasing the effectiveness of their time use.
